Harry’s Hands consists of caring, concerned, mission-minded men and women who sees needs and strive to assist those in such need while reflecting the love of Christ. Harry’s Hands was founded when a huge void was left at the death of Harry Petrea who, for years, quietly strived to meet the needs of others through his tireless, selfless, and humble service but most of all, to show others the light and love of Christ through such service.

 

  • Sponsored Car Show with the direction of Dr. Scott Good. Proceeds funded various ministry opportunities throughout the year;

     

  • Sponsored a booth at the Taylorsville Apple Festival. Proceeds were donated to the Alexander County Baptist Association;

 

  • Assisted with yard sale for the benefit of Operation Christmas Child;

     

  • Prepared & served two mission meals with net proceeds being donated to Operation Christmas Child;

     

  • Assisted with NITRO Children’s Van Ministry. NITRO is an offspring of Vacation Bible School where Children / youth are ministered to through Bible lessons/stories, crafts and a furnished meal and a filled backpack of food for each child. NITRO is a Sunday evening Van Ministry organized and staffed by volunteers of Antioch. At Christmas, Harry’s Hands provided each child with gloves, hats and scarves for Winter.

 

  • Prepared & served an appreciation dinner for the pastors, deacons, staff & their families;

     

  • Canned green beans and jellies to be given to the Seniors Citizens;

     

  • A group of Harry’s Hands Workers cut 65 loads of wood for homebound and families in the community.

 

  • Participated in the annual workday at Antioch. Provided lunch;

     

  • Further areas of service included:cleaning gutters; lawn & yard work; built ramps for homebound and people in community;

     

  • Mowed grass and cleaned up the Church’s Amphitheater;

     

  • Assists with the weekly after school tutoring for 2nd -5th grade students from Ellendale Elementary; this program is held each Tuesday after school at Antioch;

     

  • Assists with delivering church literature;

 

  • Provide sitter service for local home bound and shut-in persons as needed;

     

  • Provide transportation for individuals to and from various appointments;

     

  • Provide hair care to the elderly;

 

  • Send cards weekly to the elderly and individuals in nursing homes;

     

  • Delivered 50 fruit baskets to home bound and other families in the community;

     

  • Delivered 25 food boxes donated by members of Antioch to local members.
